October 29, 1831 - 1903

The letter on this page was written to Philip SWIRE in Louisiana from his sixth oldest sister Christina Octavia "Kissie" (SWIRE) SEYMOUR WOODS  in Minter City, Mississippi, USA. The one page letter is dated May 17, year unknown, but likely after 1875 since her daughter Amy is not mentioned.

My very dear brother,

I wrote you some months ago, and have waited a long time for an answer but as none has ever reached me I have come to the conclusion that you did not receive it therefore I write again for I cant think that you do not care to hear from me.

You are the only brother I have and I would so like to hear from you sometimes it would be such a comfort to get a letter from if only a few lines to let me feel that I am not forgotten.

Perhaps I did not tell the right way to address your answer. in case I did not it is Mrs. O. C. Woods Minter City Leflore County Miss.

I must now close as I do not know what to write about. Please write soon to your loving and affectionate sister Kissie. Emily and Annie unite with me in love to all.

Notes:

Kissie was Christina's nickname.
Emily was Christina's daughter Emily Woods.
Annie was Christina's daughter Anna Marina Woods.
