My dear Phil

Your most welcome letter of the 15th of Novbr reached me two weeks ago and was under a most delightful Christmas gift to me. I had been longing for the sight of your hand writing for months past. I hope you have ere this received my letter commenced on your birthday.

Dear Lucy and her three Boys are passing their holidays here and enjoying themselves to their hearts content in ____ing about all day. I heard from Hannah and Emily a few days since. They and theirs were all well. Hannah as I wrote you is living with Roger and his sweet little wife, and they are very happy. They want me to go up in the Steamer to pay them a long visit, but I am too old now to stand seasickness having now entered my 77th year. I think the best thing I can do is to remain with my Daughters until it pleases God to call me away and I do thank Him for the good health that I have been blessed with, so that I have not been a burden on my Children; for although I had no money to give them I have been able to help them with needlework so that I am not quite useless in the house.

I am so pleased with dear Walter's letter that I must give him a note all to himself. I hope to get another letter from him ere long. I am thankful to say we are all well, and "Frank Swire" growing nicely and sweeter every day. I shall miss him and dear little Mary very much when I leave, for it is more then probable that I shall not see either of them again.

Robert and Constance may be able to go to Falmouth at midsummer if I am spared so long, but the two little ones I cannot expect to go there as they can only travel in a Carriage, but the two big ones will ride. I trust your dear wife and little ones are all well. You must kiss each of them for me, and give Roger a double share for his name, dear Boy! What would I not give to do it myself. Roger Haughton's address is Bowden, Port Morant, Jamaica. I do not think I told you that he has bought the (wharf?) at Bowden, and made a Penn of the land around it, and so far he is doing well. I think he is doing well.

Lizzie will write you herself and tell you all about herself husband and Children, so I need say nothing about them.

I have not heard from Fashy since I last wrote you, but hope to do so by the mail of the 5th instant. She now has her three Children in Greenock, only Robert is in Jamaica in the Revenue Office.

I do most sincerely wish you and yours a happy new year and rejoice to learn from your letter that your sheep and Bees (?) are doing well for you. God bless you my dear Son is the sincere prayer of
Your loving Mother
F L Swire

P. S. I wrote to Christina at the Same time I wrote you last, but have got no reply.
