Home Castle
Stewart Town PO
Jamaica
Jany 31st, 1878
My dear Walter,
I see your cousin Robert
has written you a very shabby note but he has been out all day in the
Cattle pen looking after some stock for his
Papa and did not
come up until late, and has written in a great hurry for the letter
must go to the post tomorrow or it will be too late for the New York
mail.
How often do I wish that I could see your dear Father and Mother and
all of you, but alas! that is a vain wish, we shall never meet on
earth, but I hope we may meet in Heaven, where there will be no more
partings and where sorrow is unknown.
Your cousin is very anxious to get something to do, and my earnest
prayer is that he will get a situation ere long.
I often hear from your Aunt
Marianne in Australia. She sent me some nice Photos of
her Children the other day. Her son
Charles, who is
19, she writes me is 6 feet, and stout in proportion. He is a fine
looking young man, and two of
her girls are handsome two. They are both class teachers in the
College of the Town where their Mother lives. Charles is with a
Stationer in the same Town Heathcote.
Now you must give my love to all your dear ones and kisses to all your
Brothers and Sisters, and with much for you from all here.
Believe me dear Walter
your loving Grannie
F. L. Swire
February 1st. Tell your Papa with my love that your
Aunt
Lizzie had a fine little Boy born this morning. They are
doing well. He will be called
Walter as you wished. Ever your loving Grannie
